Am I Just Unlucky?

I don't think I'm particularly prone to bad luck more than the next guy, which makes me think that amazon.co.uk is having a very bad week.

Over the last two days we should have received three parcels from Amazon. We have Amazon Prime (we order a lot of stuff over the year) which means we have guaranteed next day delivery and the ability to track our parcels. This usually really helpful, but this week it's just been frustrating.

Yesterday I was expecting two parcels, both of which were supposed to be delivered by City Link. When neither parcel had arrived by about 4:30pm I decided to check the tracking website only to find that there were no details after the initial "we have details of your parcel message". I rang City Link only to be told they weren't sure where my parcel was. I decided to give them all the benefit of the doubt and so waited until this morning and then rang again. This time I was told that Amazon had never passed the parcels on to City Link! I contacted Amazon who were very polite and helpful and have replaced the missing orders while apologizing profusely.

I should also have had a parcel today, this time via DPD but yet again by 4:30pm no sign of useful tracking info. Rang DPD and got the same story; they never received the parcel from Amazon. Amazon slightly less helpful this time as they want me to wait until the 6th to see if it turns up -- unlikely if they haven't given it to a courier.

Oh Mark, you have little problems. I get DPD with the drivers name, far more efficient than anything else like health. Load of tossers they are in the Elf Service.

I do like DPD, but even they can't work miracles and deliver a parcel amazon hasn't bothered to hand over

I found Amazon to be terrible the last two Decembers so got all our shopping done in November. It's a relief I can say.

Oh dear. I haven't even started to think about Christmas yet - short of getting some cards today. I did have the Amazon Prime for the introductory month but the service we get on Lewis using the free delivery is second to none - as a rule. Of course I'm not in the UK in December!

Fortunately none of the parcels were Christmas presents, but they were things we wanted quickly. Unfortunately I've now received two copies of everything after they managed to find the original parcels, so will have to arrange to return things.

The way I read your original third paragraph it sounded as though City Link had them but couldn't find them. It sounds now as if the carriers might have had them all along. We will probably never know.

Apparently the "we have the details" message means they have been asked to pick it up but Amazon hasn't handed it over yet. Amazon seemed to confirm that was the problem, but I'm guessing it wasn't now that they have turned up two days late.

Gosh, I'm sorry your experience with Amazon.co.uk has been so terrible. I've had excellent service from them. This year I ordered several things from them, and all the items have already arrived at their destinations. I particularly like the fact that I can order things from Amazon.co.uk and have them shipped for free, if the recipient is in the UK, even though I'm not. I hope all will be well for you before the holiday arrives. xoxo
