The Lights Are On, But Is Anyone Home?

On the door to my hotel room (I'm in London working at The National Archives for a couple of days) is the following sign...
I slept with the lights off but I'm not entirely sure if that was a good idea or not!

It won't help with mosquitoes because they are attracted by the carbon monoxide you breathe out not by light! I'm not sure that's particularly relevant in London anyway! The other alternative is to keep the window closed. Being London I'll guess that the windows wouldn't open anyway because the hotel would be air conditioned.
